SUNY Westchester Community College and Bound Tree Medical hosts EMS Roundtable
In recognition of EMS Week and Mental Health Awareness Month, SUNY Westchester Community College and Bound Tree Medical held an EMS Roundtable which included a viewing of the documentary "Honorable But Broken – EMS in Crisis". Several leaders from local EMS agencies along with Donna Chiapperino, deputy district director from Congressman Mike Lawler’s office attended. George Contreras, Dean of the School of Health Sciences & Wellness and host of the event, moderated a panel discussion following the showing of the film. Tim Rubert, Bound Tree VP of Government Affairs was joined on the panel by Bryony Gilbey, documentary producer/director; Richard Wishnje, Commissioner of EMS for Westchester County (WCDES); Susan Spear, Deputy Commissioner (WCDES) and Michael Volk, Director (WCDES). Key topics discussed included the critical need to pass EMS legislation including 7 bills currently in front of the New York State Legislature including Treatment in Place (TIP) reimbursement, Medicaid Rate Increase for EMS Providers as well recognizing EMS as an essential service in New York.
